Dwayne will invite the CEO of http://proton.energy/ to breakfast one of these day.
Members:
Brett Bain. LinkedIn delivers job applications (if you know how to use it). Brett ran an ad and got 95 applicants (at that point, he turned ad off – having enough to choose from, he was also saving money ). Now, please pay attention: do not click on anything from email – including Attachments – until you’ve confirmed to yourself that it is a legitimate action to take. One of Brett’s customers just lost $40,000 from their bank account. Another opened a nefarious attachment and got a ransom note.
Sean Baylis. His RBC special meeting with Jim Allworth is this evening. Meanwhile, expect some softening in travel related stocks (hotels, airlines, resorts etc.) until SARS-like virus is addressed. Commodities may offer some up and down excitement. Markets sound complicated.
Jim Bladon. He and 600 of his Aggie friends enjoyed the Agricultural Gathering at the Big 4 Conference Centre. One observation: it’s amazing how similar Agriculture’s challenges are to Alberta’s Energy Industry’s needs. • Jim recommends the “Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez” on Netflix. It’s a compelling documentary.
Paul Boucher.
Ian Campbell: Ian reports that Garry Vaynerchuk (of Wine Library TV and various social media and VC activities) was an exceptional presenter/success-story teller at the conference Ian attended. • Ian is liking LinkedIn. • Ian also has much to say about hearing aide technologies (too fast for proper notes: maybe we should have an Ian presentation about the best of Hearing Aides?).
Matt Dart. Another Netflix show to catch: “Don’t F**k With Cats” •
Don Davis. (This scribe has been told to not mention Olga, so I won’t. But if you happen to smell garlic around Don, try not to look guilty, ok.) • Yes, Pat and Don’s daughter are off to Vegas. • Meanwhile, Don’s son emulates his father by negotiating low, low mortgage rate for his home in Canmore.
Todd Dean:
George Doherty. George is not sure he’s enjoying his brush with fame. Seems a charming and pretty young thing from the U of A bought him lunch and presented him with a copy of a book about the History of Pharmacists in Alberta (with a chapter about him and Skip). For desert, she mentioned that as he’s not getting any younger, had he considered leaving a financial legacy to the school of pharmacy?
Don Doolan .
Tony Fisher. If you’re careful with your shekels, you might want to get the GasBuddy App for your phone: it makes it easy to save ten cents a litre on fills.• And if you’re thinking of using 14th Street SW, don’t bother: access to Glenmore Landing is still a mess; road hazards abound and there’s so much room aboard the new buses, you might want to consider taking the bus.
Gord Forsyth.
Mel Gibson. R esidential insurance for condos is still an industry bugbear. A solution is on the horizon. Maybe.
Henry Heuver.
David Hicks .
Dan Kennelly.
Matt Litke.
Andy Lockhart.
JD. MacDonald. Liking LinkedIn, he is.
Michael McLennan. Enjoyed his free time on business visit to Savanah. • MarkForged is recasting itself again. 3D is churning out parts for helicopters, LG products and BMW autos. Equispheres Inc is patenting a revolutionary metal powder 3D process that may revolutionize aluminium parts. More to come on this subject … enough for a breakfast some day.
Ross Mikkelsen .
Mike Mikkelson .
Brad Pachal. Too busy trying to control the meeting to say his bit.
Gerry Parcells.
Dwayne Vinck. His T-shirt maybe said it all. It reads” Keep Calm and Carry on, on the Fun Side of Trump’s Wall.
Bob Wiggins . He and Dorothy enjoyed a weekend at Banff Snow Days. Snow sculptures are impressive.
