January 30th

Members:

Brett Bain. Frustrated by RBC: they’re replacing tellers with iPads. You want service? Go Online. But Vicky just wanted some US cash for trip. Not going to happen in the Strathmore branch. Not any more. • Strange things are happening in the jobs market. Guess how much an Apple Store Genius Bar tech makes? $75,000/year!

Sean Baylis. So. He sees an inverted yield curve which often precedes a recession by 12 – 24 months. Now may be a buying opportunity … though he’d like the corona event to settle down. • He kinda likes Azure Business by MicroSoft. He likes FaceBook but is a bit put off by recent performance. And he expects WhatsApp to be soon monetized.

Jim Bladon.

Paul Boucher. Remember Paul’s story about a client who wouldn’t/wasn’t paying? Well, the guy has paid as he now wants more work from Paul. • If you’re a social media user and have noticed those short videos with ‘supers’ (words on screen in lieu of turning on the audio function), know that Paul’s son has mastered the software for these productions.

Ian Campbell:

Matt Dart. He’s escaping winter by attending a Trade Show in Orlando. • He ordered some tickets to a sports event on Ticket Master and his schedule changed but tickets are not being changed. (Sometimes, a little insurance is a good idea, he says. )

Don Davis. Don and Pat are soon off to Victoria where they’ll enjoy lower cost SHAW services. Not only does Pat enjoy negotiating as much as Don does, she goes for the juglar. Shaw is now shy of her.

Todd Dean: Again: he’s been everywhere, man! And next is off to ski in USA. Speaking of which, Todd’ll be addressing a crowd of thousands of audiologists in New Orleans. soon.

George Doherty. He ran into Joe Drisdale who may just soon finish his 20-year real estate project in Okotoks. Sounds very promising.

Don Doolan .

Tony Fisher. He’s a bit leery of Chinese New Year events in China town.

Gord Forsyth.

Mel Gibson. As he has pointed out: water is a big hazard for residential insurance companies. Which is why some companies are pitching in on cost of Moen Flow alarm. (JD sells and install these BYW). Details vary by company.

Henry Heuver.

David Hicks .

Dan Kennelly. (I know he’s been helping parents … but I was slow to start notating so missed the core message.)

Matt Litke.

Andy Lockhart.

JD. MacDonald. C old weather benefits: the temperature plunge has created a fair bit of work for JD and crew.

Michael McLennan. The LOW cost of golf at the Carstairs golf course is worth a look. • If you’d like a good truck, he’s selling his 2017 Tundra; low mileage.

Ross Mikkelsen . Like Mike, Ross has experienced the “thrill of realizing” your licence has expired just as he was about to rent a car. (.As it turned out, story has a happy ending as serendipity came along and saved Ross’s bacon.)

Mike Mikkelson . First thing right now, check your Drivers licence … make sure it has not expired. Mike was unable to rent a car on recent rip to Cleveland.• Mike’s safety equipment business is having a devil of a time getting respirator elements and such because of the Corona virus event. Supplies not likely to improve as the items are made in … China.

Brad Pachal. He likes his iPhone for the quality of the photos. Seems Apple has better compression technology.

Gerry Parcells. Has been hurting because of a drug for his kidneys. So he went off it and feels mucho better. Even his Doc agrees. • He is now driving a maroon Honda Pilot. Though it is so loaded he is challenged somewhat: how do I get the radio to play? He asks.

Dwayne Vinck. His sulphur recovery company/project is looking up. Seems there’s a Spanish twist in the works. Stay tuned.
