When the sun shines and women’s outfits get briefer, the Birds’ attention drifts to … food?! Well, some good restaurants were suggested this morning.
Lock it and Leave it and not to Worry: Bill Hoogstratten and Esther are liking their executive condo. It is convenient and right for their lifestyle. However, the process of Downsizing is painful.

Brett Bain. “The fact that he is a Frenchman is irrelevant.” (Paul Boucher: you are to ignore this comment.). Ethics took a beating at Brett’s company last week when a senior tech left Brett’s firm to join the prospective customer’s. This, of course, occurred after Brett had invested the time and talent to solve the customer’s needs. Ah well, if the turncoat follows turncoat procedure, he’ll be elsewhere in 3 months and Brett will get the customer back. And the revenues.
Sean Baylis.
Jim Bladon. ATB does many things right. One is https://albertaboostr.ca/ Check out this crowd funding site and know that crowd funding raised $5 Billion in North America, last year. • Poor Jim had to attend a fundraiser last week … at the Banff Springs. He reports that the greens are great.

Don Davis. Don liked the Blue Fin in south Calgary. Food was fresh and the price for 4 people was $62.00. I think he said you order from an iPad (to which Mike wondered how you tip an iPad … to which I suggest one holds the iPad in two hands, one on each side of the screen and then, tip it back or forward, as … pretty bad, I know.)
Todd Dean . Watch out for phishing scam pretending to be Paypal. • The Nash is a good place to dine. It’s in Inglewood at 925-11th Street SE.
George Doherty. The Birds’ golf tournament is officially on August 27th. George has booked 4 teams of 4 Birds. Please let him know if you plan to play. • There is a great place on Sylvan Lake for sale. If you are interested, let George know. • If you feel wonky after taking your meds, maybe your meds are not right for you. Talk to your doc.
Don Doolan. Windows – especially those on bedrooms or apartments or basement suites – are easy to get wrong. There are city specs on the Internet. Check and check again.
Ken Eades .
Tony Fisher. Their pink and black colour treatment is a clue: the place to buy trampolines is at the Flying Squirrel.
Gord Forsyth. Grumpy, he is. The longer Gord is retired, the longer Heather’s Honey-do list is getting.
Mel Gibson. Be sneaky. Be downright tricky. Begone with nobody knowing. With everyone going away for days or longer, he reminds us to make our houses look occupied. Don’t tell FB when you’re gone. (Tell them when you’re back.)
Henry Heuver. Henry and Joan did what many talk of doing: they took an European river cruise. It was a lovely way to travel. You sail (well, motor) into and through the history and architecture of the past. And as a ‘arborist exemplair’, Henry couldn’t help but notice the different ways vineyards are planted. In much of Europe, the bushes run in a line, up and down the hill. In Austria, however, the grapes are all in row, horizontally. Why? That is a good question.
David Hicks. “The fact that this is a French restaurant, is not irrelevant.” (Paul Boucher: you are not to ignore this comment.) Dave gives Cassis Bistro five wires. It is located at 2505 – 17 Ave SW.
Roger Jarvis. Original Early Bird
Dan Kennelly. He has seen some of the plans for the Reserve lands along the Ring road and it looks like there are two new major intersections.
Randy Kott. His tip: get a lawyer to write up a non compete for prospective clients. It helps orient people to the realities of the relationship.
Keith Kozak. If you have a basement bedroom, you should look hard at its egress in case of fire. The rules are complex.
Matt Litke. His tip: buy olive oil. Now. Prices are on the rise. • And quality is questionable. Many brands are under investigation in the US.
Andy Lockhart.
J.D. MacDonald.
Michael McLennan.
Ross Mikkelsen. Smoke signals? There is a mall being proposed for the reservation lands behind the Grey Eagle Casino. Mall may be bigger than Chinook. (Added Tony: But hey, they may offer retailers lower costs.)
Mike Mikkelson. Nenshi speak with forked tongue? Seems his red tape elimination promises are falling short (well, maybe that should be ‘long’): Mike’s community league efforts to upgrade their entrance signs (at their own cost) have been before 19 city departments and are 20 months in the process with no end in sight.

Chris Wright . With tax changes in progress, now is the time to do some income tax planning to reduce unnecessary levels of taxation. Significant savings may be had – but needs to be done in 2015.
