Early Birds, March 18, 2021

Gentlemen,

Your video of the March 18th Birds meeting is available below. Regrets were sent by George Roberts and Dan Kennelly who couldn't be there due to other commitments.

First up, via Mel Gibson, word of the Immunity Passport app. It's what it sounds like, for good or ill, and is likely to be the first of a few such apps. This app, although developed in Estonia, has some powerful, credible parties and developers behind it, including international Fund Transfer Service TransferWise (recently rebranded as Wise). The FAQ answers pretty much every question you might have. To their credit, it's as transparent as can be, although you might have further questions after reading the whole page, which I'd encourage.

The link to the app's page for more information is https://www.immunitypassport.co/.

The link to the detailed FAQ page is https://www.immunitypassport.co/faq.

Unrelated-to-COVID tip from Mel.....Bobbex for your flower and plant gardens to keep the deer and bunnies at bay. https://bobbex.com/.

Jim Bladon gave us an important update on Stampede 2021 possibilities, which was further fleshed out by a few answers to Bird questions. That's in the video. One thing is certain though, and that's the Stampede Lotteries have evolved and are going forward for 2021. You can get more information and TICKETS at https://calgarystampedelotteries.ca/.

There's some good history, info on the charities supported (70th anniversary of charity lotteries this year!), and an updated Stampede 50/50 lottery. You can bet the Stampede is watching the Edmonton Oilers 50/50 success (ditto the World Juniors 50/50 success) to learn more.

Two extra direct links from Jim re the lotteries:

First, the prizes page and prize carousel: https://calgarystampedelotteries.ca/prizes/

Then, the Charity/History page: https://calgarystampedelotteries.ca/charities/

Jim also shared something hot off the presses after the meeting: the ATB Economic Outlook from Todd Hirsch's team as or March 2021. It's a PDF doc, and as always, some quality, fact-based and clear-eyed assessment of the "state of the nation". You can access the document by clicking the button below.

Just above the link to the Birds video is the link to a trailer for a series thatTom Olson told us about today that looks intriguing. As he said, if you don't mind slow-moving, but smart drama, The Midnight Diner on Netflix looks really good.

And now, the March 18th meeting awaits your click. I hope you have a great day.
