Summer Ended 09/21?

Get better soon Henry and get back to Birds. Tony tells us Henry should soon be released from the hospital. He’s up and walking and chomping at the bit. So physically, Henry’s in great shape. But he did get a clout on the head and that can take some time to recover from. Tony will let us know when Henry’s home and then you can call if you wish to visit.

Members:

Brett Bain.

Sean Baylis. He sees hikes in interest rates coming. Possibly a recession in 2019/20. • His son has won a slot on the Royals Tripple A Bantam team. • Sean’s looking for sponsors in the Blue Line program. (To encourage participation, Sean will pay 50% of the cost of your ad.)

Jim Bladon.

Paul Boucher.  When things are slow at home the smart people go elsewhere. Paul is voicing projects for the Anaheim Ducks and This Bud’s For You beer. Nice work … if you can say it like Paul Boucher says it.

Greg Callander.

Ian Campbell. If Ian thinks he was surprised at winning (Sean’s) golf tournament, imagine how surprised his fellow golfers were. As Andy said: “sometimes the best wood in your bag is a pencil.” • Lost hearing aids can be expensive – making the ones that connect with your Smart Phone, a good idea. That App has helped users find their lost/misplaced hearing aids. It also helps wives find their husbands (after they knocked themselves out by tripping over the Tee box).

Matt Dart.

Don Davis. If you are ever inclined to break into Don’s house, know he has a loaded shotgun and is not afraid to use it. And since the law says that if you shoot someone in self or family defence, you’re best to do so on your own property, he’s likely to make a good job of it.

Todd Dean.

George Doherty. Still no new label for George’s Cream. (I am reminded of what Safeway’s merchandising people said: it works so why mess with it?) • We can all grumble about FB but truth of matter is: it was a lifeline for people caught in the recent hurricanes.

Don Doolan. Miffed, he is. Seems some crooks broke into his house in Montana. They stole his VCR, his flashlight and his pistol. But they didn’t take even one bottle of his wine. He paid over ten bucks (USD) for some of his cellared fermentables; they’re not that bad, he says. (A wine cellar spurned is a … shootable offence?)

Tony Fisher. He’s keeping us up on Henry’s progress.

Gord Forsyth . A friend in Willow Park answered the door to find a dude with a gun standing there. The bad guy demanded to be taken to the master bedroom with “the watches in it”. Turned out the guy was at the wrong address. Meanwhile, home owner’s wife had called 911 but thought she’d been cut off (as the line goes dead while calls are being transferred within the 911-system). Bad guy was picked up by the police – but scary things do happen to nice people.

Mel Gibson. The Canada Broker Link is thousands of brokers strong. • And the Impact Insurance Group may just be a ‘good buy’. (Check w Sean and Mel to make sure you’re buying the right one.)

Henry Heuver.

David Hicks.  Now that the hot weather is over, Dave’s going camping in the rain, snow and sleet. Probably in his kilt, too.

Dan Kennelly. Singing “I’ve got Kananaskis in my Sights”, Dan toured the (flood damaged) restored course and facilities. Everything – halfway shack, club house, layout, drainage, obstacles, everything — has been re-thought and redone to play better than ever. Gorgeous, he says.

Matt Litke. He’s a bounty hunter: Matt is paying $1000 for any new customer you refer to his retirement complex. It is appropriate for those who are totally independent, to those needing some assistance.

Andy Lockhart. What a relief they were! Just back from a Relief Carving Course on the west coast, Andy passed around samples of relief carving. It’s quite an artistic, 3D expression in wood.

J.D. MacDonald.

Michael McLennan.

Ross Mikkelsen.

Mike Mikkelson . Fishin’ put on hold: he’s a fan of the Florida keys but after chatting with his friends with what used to be a marina there, he’s going have to ‘tarpon’ elsewhere for a while.

Brad Pachal. Tips about safety and I think I heard him say that there is indeed such a thing as an accident. (I shake my head at those who say there is no such thing.)

Gerry Parcells. Radium has more going for it than just hot water and nice digs: it also had pretty fine classics car show, last weekend.

Dwayne Vink. With new magnesium mine still in approvals process, his mining company is re-opening one that closed a few years back when the priced of Mg was dismal.

Bob Wiggins . Before buying Travel insurance, read the policy. Then read it again. (There is, as far as Bob can tell, no pre-condition exclusions for going cross-eyed from doing so.) Then give your eyes a rest before reading: “Deny, Delay, Defend” by Findman.
