Minutes of July 16

Bird Golphers: George Doherty needs you to call him about the Birds’ tourney on August 27th. Call him at 403-239-3696 or on his cell at 403-510-5448

If you play hockey or racquet sports: StickFix can provide the equivalent of a $300 hockey stick for $100. And restring your racquet beautifully.

If there is a Printers’ Hall of Fame (PHF), Gerry Parcells holds a large place within it. Plus, he probably printed the PHF’s brochures, the huge posters on the walls and has a special plaque recognizing his pioneering magic in the field of printing lottery tickets.

Members:

Brett Bain.  Bouncing margins? Brett is dancing the Highland Fling as he estimates projects. They all call for US products so, with our diminishing dollar, it’s a timing game. He wants to be competitive but he doesn’t want to lose his kilt.

Sean Baylis.

Jim Bladon.  If you hear someone ya-hoo-ing in the Okanagan, it may be Jim … recovering from Stampede work. Attendance, by the way, was down 100,000 from last year (which was a record year) so ….

Paul Boucher. How to lose 10 pounds in oh, about an hour: cycle with a friend ranting about the mother-in-law who overstays her welcome. •  How not to lacerate your forearm or lose your thumb: wear shooting gloves while spending 4 hours at the archery range. Tip: archery can be a good team building event. Think of it as one good thwack after another. (Thwack being the sound of an arrow piercing a target.)

Greg Callander .

Ian Campbell.

Don Davis.

Todd Dean . Watching the Looney slide.

George Doherty. So far, he has  only one threesome for Birds tourney. • Ah well, he’s enjoying the Fine Diner and suggest you will, too. (@1420 9 Ave SE.)

Don Doolan. Want to scare the s*** out of yourself and family (or friends)? Ride the Skyline Luge at COP. It’s the world’s longest track and it’s a gas! Don loved it.

Ken Eades.

Tony Fisher.  It’s the natural order of things, he said. The dollar goes down; retail prices go up.

Gord Forsyth.  Adjusting to the ROE for retirement. But he’s not going along quietly. And he will never ever actually give in.

Mel Gibson.

Henry Heuver.  Want to know why the price of a good steak is going ballistic? Henry says the price of hay is $200 tonne. Last year, it was $17 tonne.

David Hicks.

Bill Hoogstratten.

Dan Kennelly.

Randy Kott.

Keith Kozak. A formula for success: you’ll do fine in this economy, as a landlord, as long as the house cost was $380-420m and rent is $1500-1600/mo.

Matt Litke.  Fencing made easy. Hire someone who knows what they’re doing. Oh, and I mean fencing as in … around your yard.

Andy Lockhart.  Inches in minutes. While Edmonton is drying up and blowing away, Andy’s golf course is suffering from too much rain in too short a time.

J.D. MacDonald.

Michael McLennan.

Ross Mikkelsen.  As have others, he is hearing some stories of break ins. Heat as a driver for petty theft? Maybe, eh. • Want to BBQ a cut of meat not yet associated with a second mortgage? Try a pork shoulder. Do it long and slow … or marinade in an oriental sauce and cook it fast.

Mike Mikkelson.

Gerry Parcells. Gerry retired at 2:00 p.m. on July 9th. What an amazing career he has had! No one in Calgary – and very few people in Western Canada – have not held something in their hand that was printed by Gerry and his partners. Truly: they made a major imprint on our Country.

Bruce Roblin .

Dwayne Vinck. Has become far more familiar with every nook and cranny in YYC than he wants to be.

Bob Wiggins.

Chris Wright .

George Roberts.   Words work when written well .
