Early Birds, January 20th, 2022

The newest Bird, Reid Colbran from Brokerlink took some minutes on my behalf and forwarded them today. Thanks Reid.

The meeting started with a thanks to Dave Hicks – helped out with a job at his home. “pulled some wire” . Also mentioned “keep your headlights clean on Deerfoot”

Tony Fisher: Still having logistics issues, mainly shipping costs. For a example, Tony had a shipment which normally costs around $4,500, is now costing his company $7,500. Tony is getting hot tubs from 3 suppliers now, as there isn’t a ton of loyalty from the manufacturers anymore.

Michael McLennan: Excited about Boris opening the UK, and them not having any further COVID restrictions. He asked for second round.

Don D.: Gene passed away recently, (former accountant?). Also mentioned getting a will in place, and keeping estate planning simple.

Brett Bain: Thanked Dwayne for the productive meeting they had about Brett’s business. Brett is also seeing inflation in his business with equipment costs rising, and issues with the supply chain.

Shaun Baylis: New Covid treatment seemed to work for him – antibodies injected through an IV. Energy Stocks are a solid buy right now. RBC feels the demand for oil is going to outgrow the current supply. With less crude oil coming out of South America, the US is going to turn to Canada for increased supply. Bank of Canada could be raising interest rates shortly. CP rail could be a good purchase, as they can connect into Mexico soon. Cargo Jet is another opportunity to buy. Big Amazon partner.

Dave Hicks: New electrical job out near the ice fields. Happy he went and checked it out, and it was only 750 ft (or metres?) and not the 1000. Bit of a savings for his company. 3 Bears Pizza has great pizza and beer.
