‘Twas a fine day for another meeting at Inglewood, which was borne out by the best turnout we’ve had in weeks.
Without further ado: the minutes:
Dan Kennelly – Busines continues to be dizzyingly busy. As people and companies come back out of the woodwork, TransAm is discovering that many companies still don’t understand the supply chain and logistics issues that could affect them. They’re genuinely stunned at how long some things will take to happen. It’s almost like they’re Liberals discovering the deficit ISN’T going to pay for itself.
Out on the coast, shipbuilders, are dealing with 10 years of backlogged.
TransAm is excited and sees opportunity in DeHavilland moving their headquarters to Calgary.
We had a guest! Mel Gibson – who confessed that he, like many has been a victim of inventory shortages. In his case fireplace parts. He did, however, have nothing but things to say about the service guys from Barbecues Galore.
Mel went on to give us a quick valley real estate report summed up by this: cabins that should sell for $600k, are selling from $900k.
He has also been keeping up with two Bitcoin mines out there. Without having to know anything about crypto currency, the “server farms” where the mining takes place - mid to large size buildings with nothing but computers, air conditioners and IT geeks in their tighty whities – require a HUGE amount of power. Residents near the two facilities have been complaining of power brownouts and outages.
Dwayne Vinck chimed in that bitcoin mining can work because the power that real mining isn’t using is available. Somewhere, a Liberal rolled over in their grave.
Ian Campbell – like so many people since OMICRON hit town contracted COVID. He started to feel a scratchy throat at work. Tested – negative, negative, then finally positive. The timing was b-r-u-t-a-l – a day or two before the family was supposed to head for Maui. So, in the ultimate make lemonade from lemons turnaround, Ian went to….Saskatoon. He visited his brother, who also got COVID. Ian only suffered for 2 days but the isolation was a PITA.
Business is busy again, which is great, but now clients are getting COVID and canceling appointments. Calgary Hearing Aid and Audiology was set to do presentations at 3 seniors’ residences (does that redefine “captive audience?), but with COVID so rampant, all of the homes were actually in full lockdown, so the presentations were postponed.
Michael McLennan – will be the Azores Islands next week in his and Maria’s new place. They should be all moved in in 2 weeks.
When you see these pictures, is it any wonder Maria wanted to go “home?”
