Bitcoins for breakfast?

The economy. Blockchain. Bitcoin. Credit for small biz. T’was like a micro-Davos this morning. (Sans Trump or Trudeau.)

Ya missed it: Chairman Dan brought a violin to breakfast this morning.

A good read: Sapiens – a brief history of humankind by Yuval Noah Harari • or his latest:  Homo Deus. (No Andy, this is not a ‘gay’ book. A bit Jewish? Maybe.)

Birds, Balls and Baylis: we are organizing our second Bird’s trip south to watch and play some great golf at the RBC Heritage Tournament.  We would be departing on Wednesday, April 11 th and returning on Tuesday, April 17 th .  Approximate cost of the trip which includes travel, accommodations, golf and passes to the Heritage will be $2000 CDN.   Let us know if you are interested and we can provide more details.

Members:

Brett Bain.

Sean Baylis. Copies of RBC’s Global Insight for the BIrds. Crypto currencies, the future of. Blockchain, what it might become. The economy, where it seems to be going.

Jim Bladon.  You might want to subscribe (free) to ATB Business Beat at http://www.atb.com/business/resources/Pages/subscribe-to-business-beat.aspx   • or Google it and get the latest as a pdf download. • recovery is slow but businesses are hanging in • capital/credit is tight

Paul Boucher.  Seems we’re looking at a ‘jobless recovery’. • Suncor is revising some 800 narration projects (mostly for training). Paul might be busy for a while.

Ian Campbell. He told a pretty good shaggy dog story … that included George Doherty and Interior decorators, several offices, clients, forgetfulness and …

Matt Dart. Gets high every time he drives to Lethbridge. Could it be something in the air there?

Don Davis.

Todd Dean.

George Doherty. George is kind of taken by the concept of functional medicine and how it can help resolve broken brain issues. • George has Kudos for Brad. • Home to Go is a good link to use for rental properties .

Don Doolan. Timely tip: change your furnace filter.

Tony Fisher. A lifetime of filing. WCB files never close. Never go away. And never get filled up. Like the Energizer Bunny, they just keep coming and coming …

Gord Forsyth . Went to Edmonton. Seems their Hockey team is oberwhelemed by the beauty of their new arena. • Met with a client who ‘town halls’ with his staff (blue collar types). Meetings are about ‘warts and all’ and go over very well with everyone.

Mel Gibson. Get both overland flooding and sewer back up insurance. • Expect an Emergency Alert service by cell phone to be in place here in Calgary by April.

Henry Heuver. Got his life back: he’s allowed to drive again. • Just in time for Bidding time.

David Hicks. Bare legs, tartans and sheep’s innards and other delicacies: it’s Robbie Burns Day!

Dan Kennelly. No more tellers at (some) Cineplex Theatres. Buy tickets from machines.

Matt Litke. Enjoyed a pre-game meal at La Brezza. (BRIDGELAND.) Good Italiano pasta and stuff. • CIBC now has branches with no tellers. None.

Andy Lockhart.

J.D. MacDonald. Business is slow.

Michael McLennan.

Ross Mikkelsen.

Mike Mikkelson . Is interested in what’s going on at the New Fortune Mall. Big place. It’s like three football fields stacked atop each other. Shops are really quite small. All have sold. • Trade Show for world lumber industry looking pretty busy. • enjoyed meals at Salt Lick and also, Pasqualli’s. • How to Go is a good site for rentals.

Brad Pachal. Because sometimes you have to scan a document or your signature. There’s an APP fo that.

Gerry Parcells. He was unfairly charged – over a Grand – by Vivent Security. He had a devil of a time getting them to pay attention to him and refund his money. So he called Gord Forsyth (AKA Lucky Lucianno). Gerry got his money back within days!

Dwayne Vink. He has four kids in high school so he’s liking the RESPs

Bob Wiggins .Still stalking 5 Birds: if you don’t pay your dues by the 31st, it’ll cost you an additional $56.25. • Bob has a Lynx Friendly back yard. • His CRA spam story continues: the very person who first pretended to be a CRA staffer is now calling as an anti-CRA-fraud agent. Bob is not biting.
