Birds’ news on Feb 18th

If there was a common thread at breakfast, it is ‘this too shall pass’. What is, is. And what will be, will be. Or, as Paul might say: Que sera, sera. (Or if you’re old enough to remember Doris Day …)

Jim Bladon.

Paul Boucher.  It used to be so complicated! New businesses need new communications protocols. Used to be, you got a switchboard for multiple phone lines. No more. Now, there’s an APP for that. Line 2 is the App that Paul and his two partners can install on their iPhones. It lets any one of them answer and has all the features of a large office system. Except for the hi cost.

Greg Callander.

Ian Campbell. Perplexed he is. Sometimes, you’d never know that Medicine Hat was in Alberta. Ian attended the Alberta Winter Games there last week. His son performed there. They then came home to find no mention of the games in local media. Nada.

Matt Dart.

Don Davis.

Todd Dean.  Left his whip in the car in the parking lot … so lost control of this am’s meeting. Feisty, noisy bunch we are.

George Doherty.

Don Doolan. How can you tell the Liberals are back? We’re babying the Francophones, again. How many times has Bombardier been to the trough of our national tax-funded, corporate give-away system? Too many, says Don. It just another Quebec perk at our expense. Huge cost and ridiculous risk.

Ken Eades.

Tony Fisher. Bombardier comments.

Gord Forsyth.

Mel Gibson.  Mel’s grand daughter won a Bronze in the downhill moguls at the Winter Games. But no mention was made of her prowess (nor anyone’s else’s) in the local media. In fact, this is the second mention of the Games that will appear in our minutes – possibly the most news outside of Medicine Hat itself! • Mel was very impressed with the CanAlta Centre in Medicine Hat • Mel mentioned an insurance product called MetroMile that may become available for low mileage auto users.

Henry Heuver. Mexico was great • As was Cirque Soleil • Business is about bidding and more bidding • Henry needs a reliable sound system technician to fix and service the sound system in his home. Any suggestions? Please let Henry know.

David Hicks.  Good thing they like Dave and his good work. Restaurant designers seem to be running full out. There’s lotsa business for them. • Bidding is becoming the bane of his business. • Smoke detectors are becoming more complicated and complex … but are we safer? Yeah, says Dave.

Bill Hoogstratten.

Dan Kennelly.  It’s a good read. If you want to know the details of the Dennis Wideman suspension, go to http://www.nhl.com/nhl/en/v3/ext/pdfs/NHL-Wideman-Order.PDF

Keith Kozak. Business is off a bit but then, it is February. • Seemed a bit disconcerted about ‘Who gets In’ that was discussed in a recent documentary about immigration to Canada.

Matt Litke. Yet another podcast person: Matt likes the ease of use they offer, along with some amazing information and entertainment. His current fave is The Dave Ramsey Show.

Andy Lockhart.

J.D. MacDonald. Phyllis is undergoing surgery. • JD warns us against those silly blue tablets that people put in their toilet tanks. It’s corrosive and eats your rubber gaskets. Which makes your toilet do what you do: take a leak.

Michael McLennan.

Ross Mikkelsen. I noted the term ‘digital tweets’ but am unsure what he actually said. (Leaving minutes to the weekend is a test of one’s memory. And I just failed it.)

Mike Mikkelson. It’s not IF. It’s WHEN. Your appliances will fail and you will need a repair guy. http://www.firstaidappliancerepair.ca is a good option.

Gerry Parcells.

Bruce Roblin.

Bob Wiggins. Cautions us to beware when you get an unsolicited message on your computer about a Hard Drive problem and seemingly from Windows. The bad guys are proliferating and getting better than ever. Maybe we should prevail upon Brett to get MJ to find or create a course of action for us all. Too much is at stake to ignore the threats.

Chris Wright.

George Roberts.  Words work when written well.
