August 22nd: Gord is proposing an evening out for Birds at Century Downs. He’s looking for a show of interest. So please send him a quick email at ghforsyth@shaw.ca Just say you’re interested. Or not. The timing is around the middle of September.
And as the sports stories got underway, Andy waxed poetic about the Professional Sports Biz with: “You can use the game (for your benefit) or you can let the game use you.”

Jim Bladon. Rose-coloured glasses still required. Even though financial services and interest rates seem stable. And even though some bank biz is seeing increased activities, Jim sees layoffs continuing, around the province. The Ag sector has been hurt by weather. Taber corn crop was virtually wiped out and the pumpkin crop is so bad that we might best be advised to put Halloween on hold until next year. However, the Craft Beer Program is being tweaked for the better. The new, Tsu Tina’s 7 Chiefs Sports Complex is amazing. And they are now planning a 10,000 home residential area. As ambitious as that sounds, it’s a positive sign.
Paul Boucher. Paul has always know what a New York Minute is and he got to enjoy quite a few of them, in and around Baltimore, Washington DC and the state of New York. He recommends the Lincoln Memorial, the Holocaust Museum and Alphabet City for starters.
Ian Campbell:
Matt Dart .
Don Davis. If you treasure your Japanese Steel knives, do not practice your sharpening skills on them. Take’em to a pro. (Would you sharpen you own skates? No. So …) • He’s now off to tour the Hamilton/Ontario area followed by a tour of Saskatchewan.
Todd Dean:
George Doherty. George has been, believe it or not, golfing this summer. But hey, much of it has been for good causes. For instance, Prostate fund raiser did good.
Don Doolan .
Tony Fisher. Interesting. The smarter bars are buying shuffleboards and such to help attract and keep patrons happy. Juke boxes – that play vinyl – are also popular.
Gord Forsyth . He’s been golfing for good causes, too. The Stampede Foundation’s bottom line is a little better thanks to some good ‘ballin’ out at Darcy Ranch
Mel Gibson.
Henry Heuver.
David Hicks. His great summer continues. There’s the Y at Seton. There’s Everywhere in Inglewood. Then the new VIP Theatre where you, too, can catch the new Terantino movie. And of course, you can bike ‘the barley belt.’
Dan Kennelly. (It was a laid back, chatty breakfast and Dan really didn’t find an opening to speak in.)
Matt Litke.
Andy Lockhart. Getting his shop painted is on his mind.
J.D. MacDonald.
Michael McLennan.
Ross Mikkelsen.
Mike Mikkelson.
Brad Pachal. Hmm. Do not neglect your eavestroughs. • And if you’re looking for a good source of truck accessories, try Chrome Truck Outfitters.
Gerry Parcells.
Dwayne Vinck. The new craft beer program is going to be good for Big Rock and this is a good thing. • (I missed the important details) … but someone in Dwayne’s family got four homers in a high-level, Slo-pitch game (in Manitoba, I believe). • Dwayne is looking for good things in the ‘medextractor’ business. Small batch cannabis has a promising future.
Bob Wiggins. Bob has mentioned this before but he reminds us: you are your best advocate for your own health. He’s had some interesting experiences recently and if he didn’t ‘push hard and persistently’, he’d be still wondering what happened to him and have no idea of what might help resolve the issue. Don’t let this happen to you. Be nice but be firm: doctors’ listen to squeaky wheels just like the rest of us.
George Roberts. One good read: Starlight by Richard Wanegase.
