Gentlemen,
I apologize – I didn’t take proper minutes in George’s absence, but did want to note a few things:
1) An alarming number of Birds discussed break-ins of various types – residential and commercial. George’s house break-in was outlined quickly. Dual break-ins seemed like a respite from Ross’ week from hell in Ontario. Matt Dart discovered fresh footprints in the snow that seemed to indicate someone was checking out tires (with rims) next to his house. He hid them from sight after that. The tip was to make sure that you’ve got things secured, sensor lights working and Gord recommended security camera footage.
To that end – some links to reviews of various security camera possibilities:
2) While we’re on cameras…Dan K shared a story about a Tesla that helped catch a hit and run driver. The car’s sensors detected an impact while the car was parked and turned on all 8 cameras around the car notifying the car’s owner of something abnormal going on as it did so.
The next notification confirmed an impact to the car.
The next notification was to the driver to report a hit and run, COMPLETE with a lovely photo of the offender coming close enough to the car to check the damage and get caught on camera. The H & R driver also parked close enough that the Tesla got a great shot of their license plate. Next notification was to let the driver know that Tesla had contacted his insurance company with all the details and snapshots.
3) Don Doolan’s prostate cancer surgery (which he coolly reported as “routine” last week) went ahead this past week. He anticipated being back at Birds in 2 weeks. Dwayne had passed on a card and good wishes on behalf of the group.
4) Brett’s OSI continues to make strides in introducing Augmented Reality (A.R.) into schools – this time in Sherbrooke, Quebec. Interesting times.
….and that’s all my aging memory captured to pass on this week.
